I had once read a quotation “Nations are built through its Youth”. Reformation of Nations can be only possible in the reformation of its youth. Today nations move forward through its political leaderships and no nation can survive if its youth is politically unaware or uninterested; this ultimately results in the stagnancy of leadership. Nations die to live eternally; and this burden of course has to be taken on its shoulders by the youth. History tells us every time a drastic change in any society happened when its youth was convinced for it. We in Pakistan are in the same phase.
Pakistan is going through a decisive
time. This is the first time country is witnessing completion of democratic
process. These are indeed incredible times; we must acknowledge the consistent
struggle of our forefathers, which gave us right to choose our representatives.
We don’t have to demand this right by protesting at Tehreer square; neither do
we have to fight with any dictatorial regime for our rights nor ask any foreign
power to help us in this regard. Pakistan has done this all in the past, and
the fruit we are having is that we will be heading to the polls on 11th
of May 2013.
Elections are just 5 days away and
nation is going to decide who is going to govern them for the next 5 years. The
Election 2013 is distinct from the past polls as for the first time, the
elections will be held under an independent setup. The elements of extreme
electronic media coverage and political awareness have given new heights to the
elections. Every Party is focusing its campaign mainly on the Youth of
Pakistan. The reason is simple: 76% of
the total voters are less than the 40 years age. So, if any party wants to win,
Pakistan’s younger generation is the key.
Thus
if you ask me what to do in the present scenario, my answer straight is for the
youth to “VOTE”. The youth have to take
responsibility at this critical time… the notion “ab nahi to kab!” tells
the story for the need of time. Pakistan needs efficient and powerful
government. A government which should
have a strong mandate by the people to take bold steps, steps that will lead to
progress. This cannot be done unless a huge voter turnout is not observed. To
show the world and all anti democratic forces that people of Pakistan believe
in democracy and have faith in their democratic leaders, so that this trend may
compel future governments to pay attentions to the aspirations of people. This
massive goal cannot be achieved unless the largest portion of population the
Youth is awake and active, and ready to take responsibility.
